Students participate in Global Game Jam 2013

January 24, 2013

Peoria, IL (January 24, 2013) Bradley University students are participating in the Global Game Jam 2013, the world's largest game jam event, this weekend on campus.

This is the second year Bradley has hosted the 48-hour event that starts at 4 p.m. on Friday in the Caterpillar Global Communications Center.

Students will work in teams to develop a game from start to finish based on a provided theme. The same theme is presented to all jammers around the world. Though many choose to design and develop digital games, participants can also choose to create a board game, card game, or other type of game.

The first Game Jam event was held in 2009. Teams around the world participate and, over the course of one weekend, create hundreds of games. The event brings together thousands of game enthusiasts participating through many local jams around the world. Global Game Jam is a project of the International Game Developers Association.

The Bradley event is sponsored by Bradley's Department of Interactive Media and the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts.

Most activity will take place in rooms 205 and 213. The event concludes on Sunday at 4 p.m.
