Women’s Choir to present concert

April 11, 2012

Peoria, IL (April 11, 2012) The Bradley University Women's Choir, under the direction of Dr. Kerry Walters, will present a concert of music for women’s voices on Friday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue.

The program will feature a variety of music including a group of Spanish and French songs.  The choir will welcome the BU Jazz Combo as they join the group for several numbers including Johnny Mercer’s “Dream” and “I Love Being Here With You” made famous by the late, great Peggy Lee.  Voce Femine, a chamber ensemble from the larger choir, also will perform.  Pianist Andrea Molina will provide piano accompaniment.

The BU Women's Choir was established in 1990 to provide young women at Bradley with the opportunity to sing music especially written for treble voices in an atmosphere of collegial and congenial music making.  The group rehearses twice weekly and is made up of both music majors and those majoring in other fields of study.

Kerry Walters is associate professor of music at Bradley where she teaches voice and music education, and conducts the Bradley Opera Workshop.  Andrea Molina serves as staff accompanist for the Department of Music.

Admission is free for students and $5 for the general public.  Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.  For more information, call 677-2601.
