April 23, 2012

Peoria, IL  (April 18, 2012)  Six teams of Bradley University students will compete in the 6th annual Project Springboard Business Plan Competition on campus on April 23.

The finalist teams have been selected from a field of 22 teams to make final presentations in the competition that is part of the entrepreneurial programming and activities offered by Bradley’s Turner Center for Entrepreneurship and the Foster College of Business Administration.

The prize package includes a $7,500 cash prize, underwritten by Ditch Witch Midwest/The Harbaugh Family, consulting services from Junction Ventures; office space at the Peoria Next Innovation Center; marketing consultation from Converse Marketing; insurance advice from Coyle Insurance; legal services from Elias, Meginnes, Riffle and Seghetti, P.C., and accounting and technology services from CliftonLarsoAllen, LLP.

Each team will present its business plan before a panel of judges in the Marty Theatre in the Michel Student Center. The business plans are judged on greatest market viability or potential to acquire outside funding. (see schedule below)

The competition, open to Bradley students in all majors, was established in fall 2006. Its purpose is to encourage students to think entrepreneurially and create a business plan for a new venture.

Second and third place awards of $4,000 and $2,500 respectively will be awarded and any finalist could have an opportunity to have their plan considered for additional equity investment.

The mission of the Springboard Business Plan Competition is to provide real-life experience in business plan development for Bradley students.  This mission supports the university’s entrepreneurship major by continually encouraging and educating aspiring entrepreneurs in the creation, start up, and early growth stages of potentially high-growth businesses.
