Chorale and Chamber Singers in Concert Sunday
April 25, 2013
The Bradley University Chorale and Chamber Singers will present a special pre-tour concert on Sunday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 1420 W. Moss Ave. in Peoria. Admission is free. An offering will be taken to help with the Chorale’s tour of southern Spain in May.
Directed by Dr. John Jost, and accompanied by organist Susan Klotzbach, the concert will feature Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, a cantata on a poem by Christopher Smart. Smart wrote the poem in an insane asylum, and the imagery is striking. Music by Mozart, Victoria, Ginastera, György Orbán, Chicago composer Paul Carey, Bradley composer Stephen Heinemann, and others also will be performed. The Bradley Chorale has toured throughout the United States and Europe and has often performed at music educator conventions.
