Town Hall Meeting On Mapping Legislative Districts To Be Held On Campus

May 24, 2013

A town hall meeting seeking citizen feedback on a new constitutional amendment to improve Illinois’ seriously flawed process for drawing state legislative districts will be held in the Westlake Hall auditorium at Bradley University on May 29 at 7 p.m.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Register at

After the 2011 redistricting process, incumbents won 97% of their general elections and there was no real competition in two-thirds of the state legislative races in Illinois. The state legislative maps were drawn by legislative leaders in power with no real transparency. The new redistricting process proposed would have an independent, bipartisan commission of citizens draw the maps with complete transparency.

The forum is co-hosted by the Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service at Bradley University, CHANGE Illinois! and REBOOT Illinois.
