Bradley names Dean of Graduate School and Sponsored Research

Dr. Jeffrey P. Bakken has been appointed Dean of the Graduate School and Sponsored Research at Bradley University effective June 1.

Dr. Bakken comes to Bradley from Illinois State University where he has served as the Interim Associate Dean for Research, Graduate Studies and International Education in the College of Education. He also has served as the interim chair and then permanent chair of the Department of Special Education at ISU from 2007 to 2011, and has been on the faculty at ISU since 1995.

Dr. Bakken is the author of numerous books, book chapters and journal articles, and has been a member of research teams that received more than $1 million in extramural funding. He was awarded the ISU University Research Initiative Award and the College of Education Outstanding Researcher Award. He earned recognition for teaching at ISU by being awarded the Outstanding University Teacher Award as well as the College of Education Outstanding Teacher Award.

He received his B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Special Education from Purdue University.
