Top instrumental students selected for Honor Band

Danish conductor Peter Ettrup Larsen will conduct the 28thAnnual Bradley University High School Honor Band on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker. Admission is $5 for adults and free for students.
The performance will feature 90 of the top instrumental students from 35 Central Illinois high schools. The Bradley Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. David Vroman, will open the performance.
The purpose of the band is to provide high school students with the opportunity to perform with their peers in an honor band situation. Students are selected based on their past musical accomplishments.
Peter Ettrup Larsen studied conducting with renowned professor Jorma Panula at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Today, Larsen has an international career as a free-lance conductor and is an associate professor of conducting at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. He has a diploma in clarinet playing from The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen (1991) and a M.A. in musicology and rhetoric from the University of Copenhagen (1994).
As an author and composer Larsen has released several publications and he is sought after as a presenter in the business communities as well as at conferences where he focuses on body language and “musical communication.” Larsen is Chairman of the Board at the Rhythmic University, sits on the board of Danish Conductors Association and is a member of the board of the Conductors Guild in the United States.
