Music Scholarship Concert Series opens September 8

The first performance of the 2013-2014 Music Scholarship Concert Series will be "A Little Chamber Music," featuring pianist Andrea Molina, violinist Marcia Henry-Liebenow, oboist Alison Robuck, soprano Kerry Walters, and pianist John Orfe. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. on September 8 in Dingeldine Music Center, located at 1417 W. Barker Avenue. Admission is $5 for adults and students are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door.
Rarely heard compositional treasures by Lili Boulanger, Gerald Finzi, Samuel Barber, and Ferruccio Busoni will be performed.
Tickets for all eight Music Scholarship Concert Series performances are available at the Cultural Events Box Office in the Hartmann Center. September 22, “Zimmerman and West”
Keith M. Zimmerman, Bradley University saxophone professor and Selmer Paris saxophone artist, will appear in recital with his Illinois Wesleyan University colleague and pianist, William R. West. The recital will feature various styles of original music for saxophone ranging from Baroque to 20th Century literature and will close with 1920’s phenomenon Rudy Wiedoeft.
October 20, “An Afternoon of Jazz”
Dr. Todd Kelly leads the Bradley Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band in an entertaining afternoon of “America’s Music,” jazz.
November 17, “The Magic of Music and Dance”
Dr. David Vroman, Director of Band Activities, directs the Bradley Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band in a concert of classic band literature featuring marches, dances and other traditional wind music of the concert band.
March 2, 2014 Bradley Symphony Orchestra “Concerto Aria Winners Performance”
Under the direction of conductor Dr. Timonthy Semanik, the Bradley Symphony features the winners of the Annual Concerto Aria Performance Competition. It will feature talented student soloists and the Bradley Symphony.
March 30, 2014 Bradley University Chorale and Chamber Singers
The Bradley Chorale, returning from its Spring Tour of the upper Midwest, sings a wide selection of repertoire spanning five centuries and including all styles from motets to vocal jazz to world music featuring percussion. Dr. John Jost directs.
April 13, 2014 Bradley Community Chorus
With the dynamic duo of John Orfe and Andrea Molina supplying the luscious four-hand piano accompaniment, the Chorus sings both sets of Brahms’ enchanting Lovesong Waltzes, the Liebeslieder, opus 52, and the Neue Liebeslieder, opus 65.
