Seniors helping seniors

Bradley seniors KIM AVANTS, STUART FISHER, HOPE GRANDON, ALYSSA LINDAAS, and DYLAN WILLIAMSON made up the winning Ebeling PR-ize team. They created a public relations campaign for Connect to Protect, a seminar promoting cyber security for senior citizens.

The students partnered with a local nonprofit group, RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), and Web Tech Services to create the free seminar in April. They taught seniors about current email and text messaging scams, computer virus protection, and preventative measures against identity theft.

The competition, sponsored by CHUCK EBELING ’66, retired chief spokesperson and vice president of corporate communications for McDonald’s Corp., recognizes a team of public relations students with the best senior project each semester. Each member of the winning team receives $500 and a letter of recommendation from Ebeling. The competition has been a part of the public relations capstone course since 2003.
