Dave Snell ’76 receives Peoria city proclamation
Veteran Bradley basketball announcer DAVE SNELL ’76 was recognized at a February meeting of the Peoria City Council with a proclamation honoring him for calling his 1,000th Bradley game in January. Snell, the University’s assistant director of athletic communications, started announcing games in 1979. Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis presented the award, which was given at the request of WARREN REYNOLDS ’53 MA ’67.
“I don’t have any children myself, but I feel like I have hundreds,” Snell said at the City Hall ceremony. “To watch (student-athletes) come from sometimes impossible backgrounds -- economic and social hurdles that they have to overcome -- and to watch them get that degree . . . it makes me a very, very proud father.”
