Biography

Gayle McDowell joined the Bradley Hilltopics staff in 2003 after spending 10 years with McGraw-Hill Publishing as an editor/writer of family and consumer sciences textbooks and supplements. During the previous 15 years with PJS Publications she was acting editor and a contributing editor of PCM magazine. Her daughter HAYLEY McDOWELL’08 teaches second grade in Oklahoma, and her son Drew works in social media.

“I enjoy helping develop ideas for articles that will make our busy readers want to stop what they’re doing and read their Bradley magazine. Being a ’70s alum and the parent of a very recent graduate helps me keep in mind that we have a broad spectrum of readers out there. We hope to appeal to all of them! Bradley history is a special interest of mine — I like writing articles that conjure up college memories. My favorite was a 2005 piece called Milk Shakes & Study Breaks about memorable foods and nearby eating establishments through the decades.”
