Bradley Theatre Arts alum Florence Ann Romano ‘08 has written a children’s book entitled “Nanny and Me”.  It was released May 5, 2015.

Romano inspiration for her book started when she began her work as a nanny when she was just 12 years old, and now she’s sharing those cherished memories.   Her debut book is for children making the transition from being cared for solely by their parents to having a nanny in their home.

“Nanny and Me” (May 2015, Mascot Books) is a story told through the eyes of a young girl about all of the adventures she and her little brother have with their nanny. Romano modeled the nanny in her book after herself, and each scene was inspired by her personal experiences caring for children.

Romano, a theatre performance major at Bradley, and says that her theater education at Bradley played a vital role in her personal development.

“Theatre teaches you to empathize with the emotional spectrum of a human being, and that certainly connected back to my work as a nanny,” Romano says, “I always tried to truly understand the child; their perspective and even the perspective of the parents.”

Romano also attributes the creativity needed to write a book to her theater studies.

She says, “My theatre background was the most influential component. I was able to use my imagination every day – something that was so important to me as a child that continued to be encouraged and cultivated as an adult.”

Romano is the owner of Trinity FGC, LLC – a 100% woman owned and new family company that runs the Original Six Media production company in Chicago and Media, and owner of TheSixThirty.com, an online publication that focuses on Chicago - and the national headlines from an unfiltered and uncensored perspective.   Romano has recently become the CEO of Original Six Media

A dedicated philanthropist in the Chicago area, Romano is also the founder and current president of the junior board of Giant Steps, an organization raising awareness for autism and supporting families affected by autism.

While she attended Bradley, Florence was involved in Greek life and served as a prospective student recruiter for the Department of Theatre Arts.
