A Festival of Student-Directed Plays

BRADLEY UNIVERSITY THEATRE PRESENTS FALL FORWARD

New Production features student directors and BU Theatre’s newest faces.

Three advanced directing students take to the Hartmann Center mainstage this weekend for Fall Forward, a festival of one-act plays introducing a cast that includes BU’s newest performance majors.

“ Fall Forward is a new version of our longstanding New Faces event,” says BU Theatre Arts chair, Scott Kanoff. “This year, instead of presenting seven or eight 10-minute scripts directed by members of the directing class, we’re giving three senior directors the opportunity to stretch their craft by working on longer one-act plays.” The directors, Ali Pinkerton, Kiayla Jackson, and Hannah Williams, are all theatre performance majors and established actors in the department-- Pinkerton and Williams most recently in HIGH FIDELITY, and Jackson in last year’s THE MOUNTAINTOP.

The plays are Elizabeth Meriwether’s THE TRUE LOVE STORY OF MY PARENTS, in which a young artist chronicles her parents' funny, tragic, often awkward relationship-- one episode at a time; MILKY WAY AND MAIN, a new work from BU acting professor Susan Felder, in which three women try to make sense of of the world while clinging to their jobs in a dying town’s dollar store; and the acclaoimed Sheila Callaghan’s STAR-CROSSED LOVERS, a wild, time-traveling version of Romeo and Juliet, with music, set in ancient Greece, 19th-century Russia, postwar France, and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s U.S.A.

The Fall Forward cast features freshmen Trevor Baty, Mihret Enqubahry, Sophia Fishkin, Josh Goldberg, Lluvia Lopez, Ellie Stamper, Maggie Sturm, Katie Wilson, and Samantha Zucker, with junior Imani Hayes and guest performers Cori Anderson, Stephanie Kowalcyk. Julia Melnick, Chris Shearer, Kelsey Smith, Allison White, and Nick Wolf. Faculty designers are Mark Lohman (set) and Nikki Wheeler (costumes), joined by student designers Micael Castelluccio (lighting), Anna Gottfried (costumes), and Michelle Rice (sound).

Fall Forward is presented for three performances only, December 4-6, 2015. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 2:30pm. Tickets and more information at the Cultursl Events Box Office: 677-2650.
