March Madness Winner

While the Bradley basketball team fell short of the NCAA tournament this year, Bradley University was still well represented at March Madness.

Justin Restaino ('13) was the lead Realtime Production Artist for CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV for their March Madness graphics package. Essentially, he had a hand in designing, building, and animating the majority of graphics seen on TV during the tournament, from the score bar, to the lower thirds, to the full screens.

Restaino was given the opportunity to not only lead the project, but also fly to New York for the first 2 rounds of games, and then fly to Houston, Texas for the final four and championship matchups.

"It was an incredible experience," Restaino said. "To be able to witness everything that happens behind the scenes, and be a part of making all the magic happen, was indescribable."

The program Restaino uses to create these graphics is called Vizrt, or Visualization in Real-Time. Using the program, Restaino must recreate a 2D or 3D design, animate it, and give it all the functionalities it may need during a broadcast, such as featuring one player or two.

"It was a really rewarding experience, and I look forward to future projects," Restaino said.

Stay tuned for the final games to watch the stunning graphics created by Bradley’s alum, Justin Restaino, Bradley’s March Madness winner.
