Tuning Instruments for Band Camp
July 15, 2014
If you were near Bradley’s campus June 9-13, you might have heard “Let it Go” being belted out across the Quad. That’s because 90 high school students from Central Illinois arrived for the annual Department of Music Summer Band Camp.
Campers arrived eager and awake for their first day of camp and ready or not, they immediately started rehearsals reviewing fundamentals before diving through the music in their folders. Part of the each camp day was also spent in sectionals with smaller groups and an instructor on each instrument.
The campers perfected their musical skills throughout the week of camp and earned the chance to sleep once camp was over. Each took away a sage piece of advice: being a musician never stops; we are always thinking about our 5 T’s and how we can practice to make ourselves better!
