Recently retired Scott Ackerson is Emmy Award-winner and 20-year veteran of FOX Sports. He was FOX Sports’ Executive Vice President of News, overseeing the network’s news coverage, which includes FOX SPORTS LIVE, the network’s flagship news, opinion and highlights program. The FOX Sports veteran was responsible for guiding both FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 in this capacity. Ackerson, as the Coordinating Producer of FOX NFL SUNDAY, had been in charge of all studio programming for the networks and entities within FOX Sports since 2011. Ackerson also served in an advisory role to the Big Ten Network and oversaw a production unit that created feature segments for all FOX Sports entities. In 2012, Ackerson served as interim president of FOX Sports’ cable channel SPEED while simultaneously overseeing studio production. He joined FOX Sports in 1994, leading FOX NFL SUNDAY to its 20-year run as America’s most-watched NFL pregame show. Under Ackerson’s direction, the network’s signature studio program won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Studio Show and became a cultural phenomenon watched by millions nationwide every Sunday. Its continuous run at the top places it alongside such iconic programs as Today and 60 Minutes. Under Ackerson’s guidance, FOX NFL SUNDAY has taken home an Emmy Award for Best Studio Show four times since 1996. An accomplished studio producer, Ackerson played a significant role in the ongoing success of one of the most impressive sports-TV dynasties in history and has helped advance the sports TV careers of Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, Jimmy Kimmel, Jillian Reynolds and Frank Caliendo. Before joining FOX Sports prior to its first NFL season in 1994, Ackerson honed his craft from 1987 through mid-1994 at ESPN. In addition to his nightly responsibilities as the coordinating producer of SportsCenter, a position he attained in 1993, Ackerson had numerous special studio assignments for ESPN, including the World Series (1987), Super Bowl (1989-‘93) and MLB All-Star Game (1993).

Dunja Antunovic is an assistant professor of Sports Communication at Bradley University's Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication. Her research and teaching focus on social issues in sport in a global environment with a particular attention to gender-based injustices. She has published articles on representation of women's sport, the status of women in sports journalism, and on female sports fans in journals including New Media & Society, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, and Journal of Sports Media. Dr. Antunovic obtained her PhD at the Pennsylvania State University in Mass Communication with a minor in Women's Studies.

Julie DiCaro is the update anchor for 670 WSCR (The Score) in Chicago and columnist for CBSChicago.com. She studied journalism and French at Indiana University before getting her JD at DePaul’s College of Law. After 15 years of slogging away in the trenches of criminal and family court she escaped into the world of her first love, giving her opinions on Chicago sports to a captive audience. A Cubs blogger since 2007, Julie has written for such outlets as Deadspin, Red Eye and Huffington Post.  She currently writes for SI.com "The Cauldron".

Dr. Joshua Dickhaus is an assistant professor of Sports Communication at Bradley University’s Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication. His research focus is on race and apologia rhetoric in sports, and he has published extensively in these areas. Dr. Dickhaus teaches ethics and international issues in sports, as well as the impact of sports media on society. Dr. Dickhaus joined the faculty of Bradley University in 2011 after obtaining his PhD from the University of Alabama.

JIM KELCH

PLAY-BY-PLAY ANNOUNCER

CINCINNATI REDS

Jim Kelch just completed his sixth season as a full-time broadcaster for the Reds. He worked both radio and TV. Hired in December 2009, Kelch had been the play-by-play voice for Class AAA Louisville baseball since 1989, and during the 2008 and 2009 seasons filled in on Reds on Radio and FOX Sports Ohio television broadcasts. The Bats have been the Reds’ top minor league affiliate since 2000. While in Louisville, from 1993-1997 he filled in as the play-by-play voice on the St. Louis Cardinals radio network. Kelch’s broadcast career began in 1984 in his hometown of Peoria, Illinois with the Class A Peoria Chiefs of the Midwest League. After 3 years he moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he broadcast Class AA Chattanooga Lookouts games in 1987 and ‘88. While in Chattanooga, Kelch also was involved in the radio and TV broadcasts of the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga basketball team. He has done television play-by-play for the NCAA Division II men’s national semifinals in basketball, television work for the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University and also did radio play-by-play for the University of Louisville women’s basketball games. He called the NCAA women’s national championship game in 2009. Beginning with the 2012-13 basketball season, Jim has been the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Northern Kentucky University men’s team. He is a graduate of Bradley University.

DAVE KINDRED

Dave Kindred is a contributing writer for Sports on Earth. He is a winner of sports journalism's highest honor, the Red Smith Award, given by the Associated Press Sports Editors for lifetime achievement in the craft. He is a member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame. Kindred has been a columnist for the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Washington Post, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The National Sports Daily, Sporting News, and Golf Digest. He is a director of Indiana University's National Sports Journalism Center and an adjunct professor at Bradley University and his alma mater, Illinois Wesleyan University He has written ten books. Kindred's admiration of Ali and his tolerance of Howard Cosell's posturings provided the narrative threads for Sound and Fury, the only dual biography of the great men. His book Morning Miracle: Inside The Washington Post: A Great Newspaper Fights for Its Life is an insider’s account of past glory and current crisis at the newspaper. His latest book Mighty in Heart: Morton’s Lady Potters Win It All is due to be released this Thanksgiving.

JOURNALIST/RADIO AND TELEVISION HOST

Larry King is a television and radio host, actor, voice actor and comedian who began his career as a local Florida journalist and radio interviewer in the 1950s and 1960s and became prominent as an all-night national radio broadcaster starting in 1978. From 1985 to 2010, he hosted the nightly interview television program Larry King Live on CNN. He currently hosts Larry King Now on Hulu and RT America during the week, and on Thursdays he hosts Politicking with Larry King, a weekly political talk show, which airs in the evening on the same two channels. Throughout his career King has interviewed many of the leading figures of his time. According to CNN, King has performed more than 30,000 interviews in his career. King has received many broadcasting awards. He won the Peabody Award for Excellence in broadcasting for both his radio (1982) and television (1992) shows. He has also won 10 Cable ACE awards for Best Interviewer and for Best Talk Show Series. In 1989, King was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame, and in 1996 to the Broadcasters' Hall of Fame. In 2002, the industry publication Talkers Magazine named King the top television talk show host of all time. He was given the Golden Mike Award for Lifetime Achievement in January 2009 by the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Human Letters from Bradley University in 2009

MOLLY KNIGHT

Molly Knight has written about baseball for ESPN the Magazine for eight seasons. Her work has also appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Glamour, SELF, Baseball Prospectus and Variety. She is the author of the current N.Y. Times best-selling book on the Los Angeles Dodgers The Best Team Money Can Buy: The Los Angeles Dodgers Wild Struggle to Build a Baseball Powerhouse. A native of Los Angeles and lifelong Dodgers fan, she is a graduate of Stanford University.

Jane Leavy is the author of the New York Times bestsellers on Sandy Koufax, Sandy Koufax: A Lefty’s Legacy, and another on Mickey Mantle, The Last Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America’s Childhood. She also wrote the comic novel Squeeze Play, which Entertainment Weekly called “the best novel ever written about baseball.” She was a staff writer at The Washington Post from 1979 to1988, first in the sports section, then writing for the style section. She covered baseball, tennis, and the Olympics for the paper. She wrote features for the style section about sports, politics, and pop culture, including, most memorably, a profile of Mugsy Bogues, the 5’3″ guard for the Washington Wizards. Before joining The Washington Post, she was a staff writer at WomenSports and Self magazines. She has written for many publications, including The New York Times, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, The Village Voice, and The New York Daily News. Jeff Passan has been Yahoo Sports' baseball columnist for 10 years and is author of The Arm: Inside the Billion-Dollar Mystery of Baseball's Most Valuable Commodity, coming in April 2016 from HarperCollins. Passan, 35, graduated from Syracuse University in 2002 and spent two years with The Fresno Bee covering Fresno State basketball and two more with The Kansas City Star on the national baseball beat. He is also co-author of Death to the BCS, the best-selling treatise that had a hand in the demise of college football's irrational postseason.

Bradley University welcomed Peoria native Chris Reynolds as its 10^th Director of Athletics last March. Reynolds is a graduate of Peoria High where he was a two-time all-state basketball player and a Parade All-American. He was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Prior to Bradley, Reynolds served as Deputy Director of Athletics at Northwestern University and, prior to that spent nine years at Indiana University in a variety of senior roles in athletic administration. Reynolds attended Indiana University earning a B.A. in 1993, a law degree in 1996 and a Ph.D. in 2012. As an undergraduate at I.U. Reynolds was a 4-year letter winner in basketball and team captain his senior year. Under Coach Bobby Knight, Reynolds led the Hoosiers to Big Ten titles in 1991 and 1993, and an NCAA Final Four appearance in 1992.

DAN SMITH

Dan Smith is a lecturer in the Department of Communication at Bradley University. He was the director of Bradley’s national championship speech team for 18 years. During that time, Smith’s teams collected 14 national championships making him the most successful intercollegiate speech coach in history. His research interests focus on news media and international relations. Smith competed in tennis and diving as an undergraduate student-athlete at Vanderbilt University.

As the radio play-by-play announcer for the Bradley University men’s basketball team for more than 1,000 games, Snell has served as the Voice of the Braves for 35 years. He has also spent the last five years as Bradley’s Assistant Director of Athletic Communication. In this role, Snell oversees the production of all video features for the official athletics website, BradleyBraves.com, and all graphic displays for the University’s new on-campus arena, Carver Arena and Dozer Park. In addition, Snell teaches part time in The Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication. He is a 1976 graduate of Bradley University.

Tim Sotter is a freelance news and sports producer, videographer and editor with more than 25 years of television production experience. He is a two-time winner of a national sports Emmy for his recent Olympics coverage with NBC in Sochi, Russia. Sotter’s clients include NBC Sports, ABC News, Golf Channel, Weather Channel and various corporate clients. He covers breaking sporting events for NBC Sports and the Golf Channel, and is recognized for his professional and creative leadership covering three Olympic games, Barry Bonds’ path to home run supremacy, world championships in the Bay Area and many of the major sporting events around the world. Prior to entering the freelance world, Sotter spent sixteen years in the San Francisco television market as an executive sports producer for KTVU and KGO television.

Jared Stacy is currently the Coordinating Producer of Remote Production for Time Warner Cable Regional Sports in Los Angeles.  In his role, Stacy oversees the live game broadcasts for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Galaxy and Los Angeles Sparks. He joined the newly formed TWC Regional Sports in 2012 prior to the launch of TWC Sportsnet & TWC Deportes in October of that year.  In 2014, Time Warner Cable Sports launched Sportsnet LA, a 24/7/365 network dedicated exclusively to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Stacy works closely with the Dodgers to manage their broadcasts.  Prior to joining TWC Sports, he worked in Remote Production primarily as a member of Los Angeles Lakers & Los Angeles Dodgers production teams for KCAL 9 and Fox Sports West in Los Angeles.  In addition, he covered collegiate sports for Fox Sports Net and ESPN, producing events such as the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championships as well as West Coast Conference and Pac-12 Basketball.  Jared Stacy graduated from Stanford University in 2002.

Charley Steiner recently completed his 11th season with the Dodgers as one of the most celebrated sports broadcasters in America. He has won four Emmy Awards, and is a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame. Charley joined ESPN in 1988 where he anchored Sportscenter while broadcasting baseball, football and boxing. In 2002, after 14-years at ESPN, Charley would spend the first of 3-seasons in the radio booth of the New York Yankees. Since 2005, he has fulfilled a childhood dream announcing for the Los Angeles Dodgers on both radio and television. A graduate of Bradley University, Charley is one the most decorated alums in the history of the school. In 1991, he received the Lydia Moss Bradley Award. In 1995, he was inducted into the Bradley University Sports Hall of Fame. He was named a Centurion in 2003, and, in 2010, Charley was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at Bradley’s commencement. In his honor, the University named The Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication at a ceremony in March 2015.

Travis Vogan is an assistant professor in the School of Journalism & Mass Communication and the Department of American Studies at the University of Iowa. He is the author of Keepers of the Flame: NFL Films and the Rise of Sports Media (University of Illinois Press, 2014) and ESPN: The Making of a Sports Media Empire (University of Illinois Press, 2015).  Beyond his books, Vogan has published research in Convergence, Journal of Sport History, Communication & Sport, Popular Communication, The Moving Image, Digital Journalism, International Journal of Sport Communication, and other venues.  He is co-editor of the University of Illinois Press book series Studies in Sports Media and is currently serving as the Film, Media, and Museum Reviews editor for Journal of Sport History.
