Speaking About Black History

The Bradley University Speech Team welcomes the public to its second annual Black History Showcase Friday, February 27, 8:00 p.m.   It will be held in the Caterpillar Global Communications Center Auditorium, Room 126. The showcase will feature five performances by speech team members celebrating Black History Month. General admission is $5 and Bradley students pay $3.

Junior speech team member Brandon Johnson, Public Relations major, organized the team event.  Johnson has gone beyond the role of host - launching a Facebook page, meeting with faculty to promote the event, and preparing to perform in the showcase himself.  Johnson stresses the event is not only an opportunity to highlight the speech team’s success but also to educate people to Black history and literature.

“The showcase gives students and people of the community information on controversial issues toward racial equality in America,” Johnson said.

Proceeds from the Black History Showcase ticket sales will benefit the Bradley University Speech Team’s traveling expenses for national championship tournaments in April.
