John's specific area of expertise is understanding the implications of free trade agreements (FTAs) for manufacturers. As the United States becomes party to new FTAs, small to medium sized manufacturers that have the right FTA knowledge base will be able to profit from them.

Jim Foley, Director of the International Trade Center and NAFTA Opportunity Center was selected as Chairman of the International Association of Trade Training Organizations (IATTO) at the organization's annual forum in Cape Town, South Africa. Jim is past president of NASBITE, the North American Small Business International Trade Educators, which is IATTO's U.S. institutional member. IATTO (www.iatto.net) is a thirty-one year old non-profit organization of government, education, and trade associations worldwide. Its mission is to promote excellence in the field of international trade training and education. Jim is the first American selected to lead IATTO.
Ken Klotz, Director of the Small Business Development Center, has been elected as Vice Chair of the Illinois Small Business Development Association (ISBDA) Coordinating Council for the 2005 term.
TCE Quarterly Economic Impact Highlights
For the quarter ending 9/30/2004, the Illinois Entrepreneurship Network in the North Central Region, of which the Turner Center for Entrepreneurship is a part, served 361 clients which resulted in 8 new ventures, over $5 million in new sales (domestic, foreign, and government contracts), and 43 new jobs created and 167 jobs retained. The North Central Region includes DeWitt, Fulton, Livingston, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell & Woodford counties.
