Certificate in Small Business Management Gets New Look
by Ken Klotz, SBDC Director
Now in its seventh year, the Certificate In Small Business Management Program conducted by the Illinois SBDC at Bradley University has been reformatted to appeal to a broader audience. In contrast to prior years, where sessions were held on eleven consecutive Tuesday mornings, this year's program will be spread over a longer period of time to allow for occasional breaks. Beginning September 25, 2007 and concluding on April 15, 2008, this year will feature twelve topics designed to provide managers with practical solutions to everyday business problems.
Four new topics will be presented this year, including Strategic Planning, Creating Employee Handbooks, Business Insurance, and a Banker's Panel Discussion. Popular topics returning from last year include: Basics of Human Resources Law; Secrets of Effective Employee Interviewing; Big Marketing Dreams, Little Bitty Dollars; The ABC's of Local Media; Retirement Plan Choices; Benchmarking Yourself Against The Industry; Eliminating Cash Flow Bottlenecks; Performance Appraisals Worth Doing; and Dealing With Angry Customers.
The final change to the Program this year is added flexibility. Participants will now be able choose to attend all sessions and receive a Certificate or only attend one or more single sessions. All sessions will be held in the new PeoriaNext Innovation Center on Main Street. To register, please visit our website. For more information or to request a brochure describing the Program, please call (309) 677-2992.
