Accounting 3:2 alumna Kristina Korwin ’15 will soon begin her professional career as a tax accountant for Chicago-based Baker Tilly.

“Since graduating in May, I also plan to fulfill the requirements to be a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA),” Korwin said.

Korwin’s experience at the Foster College of Business provided valuable professional experiences that will last a lifetime.

“The accounting department opened so many different doors for me,” she said. “I was able to take advantage of many of those opportunities that helped me grow in so many ways over these past five years.”

Korwin credited the Foster College of Business' student and faculty interaction for enhancing her years on the Hilltop.

“I really enjoyed getting to know the accounting faculty over the years. They are passionate about what they do,” she said. “I was able to get to know many of them on a personal level, which made my experience at Bradley so much better. They also definitely made going to class enjoyable, as well.”

While at the Foster College of Business, Korwin also participated in Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and the Bradley Accounting Club.  She was BAP president two years. Additionally, she regularly attended Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC) meetings.

“Kristina started developing her sense of professionalism as a member of the Bradley Accounting Club,” accounting instructor Shondra Johnson said. “Kristina put her membership in the student organization to great use. She also took elective courses that gave her opportunities to grow professionally.”

Korwin gained hands-on experience with two internships at Caterpillar Inc. She also interned at the Salvation Army in Peoria, Scot Forge in Spring Grove, Illinois, and Total Income Tax in Peoria.

“We tell students that what happens outside the classroom is as important as what happens inside,” accounting department chair Dr. Simon Petravick said. “Kristina did a tremendous job by holding multiple internships, being on the executive board of our award winning Beta Alpha Psi chapter, and sitting for two different accounting certification exams before graduation. She is off to a great start, and I have no doubt she will have a tremendous career.”
