Management and Leadership Student Finishes Off Busy College Career

Senior Lindsey Petersen’s successes in the classroom and community paved the way for a job right after graduating. Petersen ’15, a management and leadership major from Prospect Heights, Illinois, will start a position at Muscatine, Iowa-based HNI Corp. a few weeks after she receives her diploma.

Petersen built a strong resume with several internships while a student and was named the Foster College of Business Intern of the Year in 2014. Her internships were at Allegion, a sub-company of LCN Closers, Steelcraft and Boy Scouts of America. A study abroad experience in London also added to her learning experiences.

“Throughout my internships, I was able to become a better professional through the vast number of experiences that I had within each opportunity,” Petersen said. ”I was able to learn how to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences and different levels of employees, be included on highly influential projects, as well as make a difference within the organizations.”

Petersen was active in several student organizations at Bradley. She served as president of the Society for Human Resource Management and was a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, residence life staff, Late Night BU, Help, Empower and Teach (HEAT) and a Foster BEST student at visit days.

Petersen credited professors Dr. Jennifer Robin and Dr. Mark Brown for challenging her in the classroom.

“Lindsey is a go-getter and she is really proactive,” Brown said. “With all the things that she does, she knows how to take the ball and run with it, and that’s going to help her be successful.”
