Using the DSM-5® for Diagnosis and Treatment
The fifth revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM-5®) will be released in May of 2013. The book has taken years of hard work and has involved many disciplines, much debate, controversy, and numerous opportunities for feedback from professional organizations and the public.
This informative workshop will prepare all helping professionals to transition to using the new diagnostic system of DSM-5® in the practice of mental health treatment. Please join us for an interactive and instructive day that will prepare you for making the transition to using DSM-5® in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.

Who Should Attend
Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Counselors, Licensed Psychologists, and anyone else who will use the new DSM-5®.
Bradley University is authorized to award Continuing Education Credit to licensed mental health professionals who attend this workshop. The program offers 6 contact hours/.6 CEUs.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Describe the major categorical classification differences between the DSM-IV-TR and the new DSM-5®.
- Understand changes to the diagnostic process.
- Identify disorders that have been added to the organizational system and disorders that have been removed.
- Have the opportunity to practice diagnosing several case studies.
- Discuss how to transition to using DSM-5® in practice.
