Piano Preparatory School

Piano Preparatory School for Youth

For over 20 years, the Piano Preparatory School at Bradley University has provided outstanding private piano instruction for Central Illinois children. Our faculty members combine great enthusiasm with traditional and Suzuki teaching methods, and our students have been very successful in a number of local and regional piano competitions.

No prior music training is necessary, and children from age 4 through junior high school may enroll as space is available. First priority is given to continuing students with teachers placing all students according to their age and experience.

Beginners enroll for 30-minute lessons while more advanced students may take 30- or 45-minute lessons. Instructors work with parents to determine when children are ready to advance. Our Artistic Director determines which instructor will teach new students.

More experienced students participate in additional group learning opportunities, known as “repertories,” throughout the semester. Repertories are scheduled by the instructors and are held on weekends. Students occasionally work with internationally recognized music department faculty such as Dr. Ed Kaizer. A concert is held each semester in the Peters Recital Hall at the Dingeldine Music Center on campus.
