Forensic Science Summer Internship

October 2, 2012

Senior Biology major Brienna McDonald received a forensic science summer internship at the Morton Crime lab.  Brienna had the opportunity to experience a great number of forensic techniques during her 10-week internship.  She learned laboratory methods relating to the testing of bodily fluids, including blood, semen and saliva.  She gained experience in the DNA analysis, firearms, fingerprinting and chemistry labs while at the crime lab.  She also had the opportunity to observe court testimonies and several autopsies.  In Brienna’s internship report, she states that “the internship not only gave me self-assurance that I definitely chose the right major for me, but it also showed that the biology department at Bradley gave me the skills I need to succeed as a scientist.”
