Biography
Tanya Marcum has been at Bradley University since 2007. Her work experience includes ten years as in-house legal counsel for the Internal Revenue Service and nine years teaching at Central Michigan University. She is an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan.
Teaching
Dr. Marcum teaches BMA 342, Legal Environment of Business and BMA 345, Law of Business. She recently developed a new course, BMA 347, Law and the Entrepreneur. Tanya was the 2010 winner of the Caterpillar Faculty Award for Teaching and the 2009 Innovation in Teaching Award.
Scholarship
Dr. Marcum has published over 20 referred journal articles in outlets including The Practical Tax Lawyer, Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Journal, Journal of Law and Family Studies, Business Horizons, Labor Law Journal, Journal of Business and Accounting, Journal of Small Business Strategy, College and University, Journal of Academic Administration in Higher Education, Michigan Academician, Journal of Employment and Labor Law, Journal of Workplace Rights, CPA Journal, Practical Tax Strategies, University of La Verne Law Review, and the University of Detroit Mercy Law Review. Her research interests include federal taxation, alternative dispute resolution, and employment law issues.
Service
Dr. Marcum is a member of the Department’s Strategic Planning Committee, New Faculty Mentorship Committee, Pre-Law Center Advisory Council, and the Affirmative Action Committee. Dr. Marcum is a judge for the Springboard Business Plan Competition and a co-advisory to the Women In Business Organization. She has been the chairperson for the Committee on Contractual Relations. Dr. Marcum has played leadership roles in the Midwest Academy of Legal Studies of Business and is a member of the Advisory Council to the MBAA International Organization. She also serves as a reviewer to several academic journals including the Midwest Law Journal, Michigan Academician, and Journal of Workplace Rights.
