Biography

Dr. James J. Adrian, who has taught at Bradley since 1972, earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana, graduating with high honors. He also earned a B.S. in accounting and a CPA, and is a licensed real estate broker. His specialty is Total Quality Management (TQM) for construction management and construction costs, and he is the author of eleven textbooks in these areas as well as all the official guides and publications used by all CPA's in auditing construction contractors and construction projects. He has designed computer software programs for project management and estimating, which are marketed nationally to the construction industry. He is the author of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) new national course on the Improvement of Construction Productivity.

Annually, Dr. Adrian is called upon to give seminars and lectures around the world. He has many clients in industry, including General Motors, IBM, General Services Administration, Symons Corporation, and Bally Manufacturing. His recognized areas of expertise are construction productivity, claims, scheduling, estimating, and applications of computers.

Honors and Awards

Dr. Adrian has received many awards, including Engineer of the Year in Illinois, Bradley University's Professional Excellence Award, the National Associated General Contractors Construction Educator of the year (1996), and he is one of three honorary members of the American Society of Professional Estimators.
