Dr. Patrick Ferrucci joins the Department of Communication as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Journalism.  Ferrucci earned a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism. He received his master’s degree in convergence journalism at Emerson College, and his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Providence College. Ferrucci’s primary research focus examines influences on construction of news processes, specifically how economics and technology affect news production. His work also looks at other areas of media sociology such as racial stereotypes in sports communication and representations of journalists in popular culture. Before returning to school for his doctorate, Ferrucci worked for eight years as a journalist, primarily covering music and other areas of the arts. He spent more than six years as the entertainment editor at the New Haven Register, and his work has also appeared in magazines and on digital news sites.
