CS&IS installs new lab equipment

Labs in the CS&IS Department have been updated.

In summer 2010, the CS&IS Department installed new equipment in Bradley Hall Room 180 to support computer gaming courses and projects.

The lab has 22 Dell XPS 9000 specialized computer gaming-focused computers with the following specifications: CPU: Intel i7-920 2.66 GHz quad core, RAM: 8GB DDR3, video card: ATI Radeon HD 5870, HDD: 640 GB, and monitors: Dell ST2310 23”. The lab also has a ceiling-mounted 3D projector (Viewsonic PJD 6531W 120Hz 3D DLP), eight 3D glasses (Nvidia 3D Vision), and eight headphones (Audio-Technica ATH-AD700).

Equipment in Bradley Hall Room 150 and Bradley Hall Room 290 will be replaced in the department this summer with 44 new computers with the following specifications:

  • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E7500 with VT (2.93GHz, 3M,1066MHz FSB)
  • Video Cards: Integrated Video, Intel® GMA 4500, VGA
  • Memory: 2GB DDR3 Non-ECC SDRAM, 1333MHz, (1 DIMM)
  • Boot Hard Drives: 320GB 7,200 RPM 3.5" SATA, 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with NCQ and 16MB Cache

The department is grateful to College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Claire Etaugh, who secured the funds for the computers.
