Faculty and department news
August 10, 2011
The 2010-2011 academic year has shown a significant increase in enrollment in the computer science graduate program; in fall 2010, enrollment increased 22 percent, and in spring 2011, enrollment increased by 30 percent. The CS&IS Department believes this trend will continue since the demand for computer science graduates is strong.
The department is excited to welcome two new faculty: Dr. Yun Wang and Dr. Alex Uskov, both of whom will begin with the 2011-12 academic year.
Dr. Yun Wang, who has been hired as an assistant professor, received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wuhan University and her Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Cincinnati. She has taught at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Her expertise is in wireless networks and mobile computing.
Dr. Alex Uskov, who has been hired as an assistant professor, received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Bradley University and Ph.D. in 2008 from the Moscow State Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (Technical University). The department hired him in 2005 for information technology support and teaching. His expertise is in computer security and computer game technology.
After teaching at Bradley for 27 years, Dr. Mahmood Haghighi retired in spring 2011. Dr. Haghighi will be remembered by his colleagues and students for his gentle manner, sense of humor, and genuine passion for teaching. The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is working on plans to honor Dr. Haghighi. If you are interested in making a contribution to honor Dr. Haghighi, please contact Brian Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or (309)677-4297.
