For the fourth consecutive year, the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems organized events for Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek). The week of December 9th is recognized globally as CSEdWeek in honor of Grace Murray Hopper, whose birthday is December 9. Hopper was a computer science pioneer, known for being an enthusiast and vigorous teacher of computer science and math.
This academic year, Matthew Tennyson and Bradley CS students Nathan Clark, Sarah Fields, Dakota Leonard, David Reeves, and Jake Siegers visited Dunlap and Eureka High Schools. The goal was to excite young people about computer science and spread the message about its importance in society. We interacted with several groups of students over the course of two days - presenting information, sharing videos, playing games, and spreading a positive message about Bradley. About 140 high school students were reached.
