Poetry Competitions Open for Submissions

The English Department is conducting its two yearly poetry competitions - The Chester Sipple Poetry Award and The Academy of American Poets Prize. Both competitions are open to all Bradley undergraduate and graduate students.

The Chester Sipple Poetry Award calls for each entering student to submit a group of five poems. The Bradley student submitting the winning five-poem entry receives $300. Second place earns $100, third place garners $50. Winners and Finalists will also receive certificates of award.

The Academy of American Poets Prize is administered by the Academy of American Poets in New York. This competition awards $100 to the single best poem submitted by a Bradley student. The Winner and Honorable Mention awardees will receive certificates of award.

Submission deadline for both competitions is 3 pm Wednesday, March 7, 2012. An entry form must accompany poetry submissions. 

Students should deliver hard copy submissions and entry forms to the English Department in Bradley Hall Room 380.
