IMET Graduate is Best in Nation

At the 2013 IIE International Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Lindsey Gerstad ’12 was awarded first place in the James Barany Award for Student Excellence competition. Nominees for this award were evaluated on their academic accomplishments during their junior and senior years of college and their school-related activities.
Lindsey, from Wonder Lake, Ill., earned a 4.0 GPA for her final 81 semester hours. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in industrial engineering and a concentration in engineering management along with minors in business management and business administration.
Her activities include participation in the Bradley IIE student chapter, Alpha Pi Mu Industrial Engineering Honor Society, Society of Women Engineers, and Tau Beta Pi general engineering honor society. Lindsey also taught figure skating lessons at the Peoria Park District Owens Center, swimming lessons at the Riverplex, and fitness classes at the Bradley University Markin Center.
Lindsey served in leadership roles in a variety of organizations including her sorority, Kappa Delta; Residential Living, where she served as a Residential Advisor and Hall Director; and as a Bradley Student Admissions Representative.
She also had summer internships with Caterpillar and West Monroe Partners in Chicago. She is currently employed by Accenture in Chicago.
Lindsey is the sixth Bradley Industrial Engineering graduate to win this award since 1976. In addition, six other BU IE seniors have received the second place award in this competition and two others have been third.
