February 23, 2012
In October 2011, more than 150 students and members of the Peoria community attended a lecture in the Michel Student Center delivered by Ambassador Mark Johnson, vice chair of the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy. The lecture was part of the Institute’s ongoing Distinguished Speaker Series arranged by Dr. Shah Tarzi. Mr. Johnson has been Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo with responsibility for working on the Middle East peace process and Ambassador to Senegal. Ambassador Johnson discussed the critical impact of energy, oil and water issues on political and economic developments in the Middle East. The event was co-sponsored by the Peoria Area World Affairs Council.
