Dr. Kelly Schwend teaches community health nursing theory and practicum at the senior level. Dr. Schwend has held a variety of positions in the fields of nursing and nursing education. She began her career as a staff nurse in OB and Pediatrics . She has been a hospital based nurse educator for OB, Pediatrics and Women’s Health. She also worked in the areas of risk/outcomes management with a focus on the education of nursing staff as it relates to the promotion of a culture of safety within the hospital setting. She taught a variety of nursing theory and practicum courses at Bradley as a part time faculty member prior to joining the department as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in 2009.
