Awards & Presentations
Department faculty and students continue to advance the profession with solid research contributions. The DPT research sequence culminates with the presentation of faculty mentored student research projects at the Bradley Graduate Research Expo. Continuing a tradition established by last year’s winners, Katy Garber and Valery Kharina (DPT 2014) won the President’s Award for their work on the “Effects of Rocker Bottom Shoes on Pressure Distribution”. Faculty mentors were Dr. Dawn Hall and Dr. Melissa Peterson. The Provost’s Award was captured by Joseph Ganske and Hope Schulte (DPT 2014) for their project examining “The Effect of Text Messaging on Reactive Balance and the Temporal and Spatial Characteristics of Gait in Unimpaired Individuals”. Faculty mentors were Dr. A.J. Strubhar and Dr. Melissa Peterson. Kelsi Putnam and Brian Fisher were awarded Honorable Mention in the Human Service category for their research on the “Effects of Heavy Glove Training on Hand Speed in the Kneeling Position”. Faculty mentor was Professor Joe Kelly in collaboration with Joe Terry (BSPT 1994).
Emily Pisani (DPT 2013) received the 2013 Student Physical Therapist of the Year Award from the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA). The Award was given at the IPTA Spring Luncheon on April 13, 2013 in Naperville.
This spring the Bradley Department of Athletics held the 15th Annual Athletic Honors Luncheon to recognize student athletes with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Health Science students who were honored include the following: Hannah Booker (Women’s Cross Country and Track), Mariah Cole (Softball), Johnny Contreras (Soccer), Chelsea Griffin (Women’s Cross Country and Track), Cassie Lohmeier (Women’s Cross Country and Track), Cassandra Marschall (Women’s Golf), Carly Miles (Women’s Tennis), and Alise Tupuritis (Volleyball).
