Biography
Dr. Cheryl Sparks, PT, DPT, OCS has been an Assistant Professor at Bradley University in the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Science since 2008. She is currently a PhD candidate at Nova Southeastern University and is pursuing a fellowship in orthopaedic manual physical therapy. In her spare time she enjoys running, reading, and the opportunity to serve and care for patients in less developed countries. Cheryl resides with her husband, Michael, and their two weimaraners in Peoria, IL.
Teaching
Dr. Sparks' primary teaching responsibilities include musculoskeletal examination and intervention of the spine and extremities and orthopaedic manual therapy in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She also teaches kinesiology in the undergraduate Health Science curriculum. Research interests include examination and intervention of the neuromusculoskeletal system with special emphasis placed on orthopaedic manual therapy and the use of evidence in clinical practice.
Service
Dr. Sparks has achieved Board Certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and practices at the Illinois Neurologic Institute at OSF St.Francis in Peoria, IL. She maintains professional membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, the Illinois Physical Therapy Association and the American Physical Therapy Association sections on Orthopaedics and Research.
