Best Buddies of Bradley University
February 9, 2012
Best Buddies of Bradley University is an organization where college students develop friendships with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from the Peoria/Pekin area. Our Best Buddies chapter is just one part of an organization that now has thousands of chapters worldwide. The Best Buddies International mission is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Here at Bradley we work to fulfill this mission by creating, maintaining, and supporting friendships with our buddies. Bradley University Best Buddies is maintained with the support of our President and College Buddy Director Jennie Balikov, Event Coordinator Katie Cullota, Membership Coordinator Brianna Lampe, and Fundraising Chair Kelsea Sollberger. Currently we have 19 Buddy Families consisting of a college student who has committed to a one-to-one friendship with an individual with IDD and one or two associate members who provide support to their assigned buddy family by attending events and helping out if a college buddy can not attend an event. Every month our chapter has two events where we do activities with our buddies. Some events that we have enjoyed are going to Cosmic Bowling, Tanners Apple Orchard, having holiday parties, doing a service project, and playing Minute to Win It.
Please contact the President and College Buddy Director, Jennie Balikov, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in making a donation or becoming a member of this outstanding organization.
