Dr. Joshua J. Lewer

Robert A. McCord Endowed Professor for Executive Management Development

An award-winning author and lecturer, Dr. Joshua J. Lewer is an associate professor of economics and a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) Bonn, Germany. Dr. Lewer has published several dozen journal articles in the broad fields of globalization and economic growth. His first book, “International Trade and Economic Growth,” was published in 2007 and the first edition of his second book, “Principles of Macroeconomics,” was published in 2012.

Professor Lewer teaches courses in macroeconomics and globalization. He is currently collaborating with faculty from the Caterpillar College of Engineering and Technology on the convergence class “The Global Economy and Technical Innovation.” He is an engaging speaker and gives updates on the state of the economy and the business cycle to local and regional businesses.

Dr. Lewer received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2000. Prior to coming to Bradley in 2007, he served as the Gene Edwards Professor of Banking at West Texas A&M University. Outside of academics, Dr. Lewer enjoys following the stock market and was employed as a registered representative with Prudential Investments.

The Robert A. McCord Endowed Professorship for Executive Management Development is the first endowed professorship in the Foster College of Business Administration. Illinois Mutual Life Insurance Company established the professorship to honor Robert McCord’s retirement from his position as the company’s chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

Dr. Charles R. Stoner, professor of Business Management and Administration, was the inaugural McCord Professor and served in this capacity from 1991 to 2012.
