Gerald Hills holds the endowed Turner Chair of Entrepreneurship at Bradley University. Dr. Hills earned his Doctorate at Indiana University and was a pioneer in the development of the entrepreneurship discipline. Prior to joining Bradley, he developed an entrepreneurship program at another university that was consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally.
Through his teaching Dr. Hills has spread entrepreneurship seeds among thousands of students. He has written and edited more than 100 entrepreneurship articles and 25 books, was the cofounder and first President of the U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), and President of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB). He was also the cofounder and first President of the American Marketing Association Academic Council and a Board Director of the AMA. Finally, Dr. Hills is Founder and President of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO), inspiring and supporting students who seek to become entrepreneurs. CEO clubs are on 180 university campuses nationally and the Annual CEO Conference attracts 1600 attendees.
Dr. Hills has received numerous awards including being named a Wilford L. White Fellow of ICSB; a Justin G. Longenecker Fellow of USASBE; the Advocate Award from the Academy of Management for “Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Entrepreneurship”; the Leavey Award for Excellence by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge; the NASDAQ Center of Entrepreneurial Excellence Award; Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Ernst & Young; and the UIC Alumni Leadership Award.
Dr. Hills chaired an advisory board of the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Reagan, and, as Communism fell, he advanced entrepreneurship in Poland through a U.S. Congressional Commission and two other projects. He is currently expanding CEO and leading an effort to take entrepreneurship across all the colleges at Bradley as Chair of the President’s Committee on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
