Amanda
Newell joined the Family and Consumer Sciences department in 2008
and teaches Introductory Food Principles and Nutrition.
Background
Prior
to coming to Bradley, Amanda worked as a clinical dietitian and
dietetic intern at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. During graduate
school she was a research assistant at the University of Illinois
where her thesis focused on the chemopreventitive potential of different
types of tea. Currently, Amanda serves as one of the Public
Policy Coordinators for the Illinois Dietetic Association.
Some of her nutritional interests include the link among diet, lifestyle
and health as well as functional foods and their role in the prevention
of various diseases.
Degrees
and Certifications
Amanda
received her MS in nutritional sciences from the University of Illinois
and her BS in dietetics from Western Illinois University. She completed
her dietetic internship at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and
is a registered dietitian and licensed dietitian/nutritionist.
