An assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership
and Human Development, Jobie Skaggs teaches Research Methods,
Pre-Practicum, and Practicum among other counseling
and human development courses. She is the community agency coordinator,CACREP
liaison for Bradley's counseling programs, and co-editor forthe
Illinois Counseling Association Journal.
Dr. Skaggs assisted in the development, and is currently the clinical
administrator, of the 10th Judicial Circuit Court Visitation Center.
Her research interests include counselor impairment, issues related
to counseling offenders, and supervision.
Dr. Skaggs authored a quantitative dissertation focused on counselor
impairment predicted by their use of Machiavellianism. She has coauthored
publications reviewing current research on families with a traumatic
brain-injured member, a review of research methods regarding insight
and schizophrenia, and homicidal risk and schizophrenia. Dr. Skaggs
has presented her research at local, state, regional, and international
conferences.
Background
Dr. Skaggs has more than five years of general and forensic private-practice
experience. During her tenure as a clinician she developed, and
was the clinical supervisor, of Bannock Domestic Violence Center
and a board member for the Idaho Women's Network.
Dr. Skaggs previously served as the Valeska-Hinton Professional
Development Coordinator.
Degrees & Certification
Dr. Skaggs is a nationally certified counselor and a licensed professional
counselor (Idaho). She received her PhD (1999) in counseling and
counselor education, a master's (1993) in counseling, and a BS (1991)
in counseling from Idaho State University.
