As a professor of education in the Department of Educational Leadership
and Human Development at Bradley, Lori Russell-Chapin teaches a number
of counseling courses, including Introduction to Human Development
Counseling, Practicum, and Internship. Her current research involves
writing a field experience textbook that will be published this June
by Brooks/Cole. She continues to research in the area of marital distress
and predictors of distress, and recently co-authored a book on conflict
resolution.
She loves
teaching and learning with students. Her teaching style tends to be
interactive, and she frequently uses group projects. She is
constantly learning with her students, and the best projects seem to
be the ones in which students are involved with members in the
community. She has worked with homeless youth and consulted with
several agencies in the Peoria area.
Dr. Russell-Chapin was
the department chair for 11 years and currently holds the position
of associate dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences.
She maintains a private counseling practice on a part-time basis
where she focuses on couples and individual concerns.
Degrees & Certification Dr.
Russell-Chapin received her PhD in counseling education from the
University of Wyoming in 1987. Her master’s in counseling is from
Montana State, and her undergraduate degree in psychology is from
the University of Wyoming. She is a licensed clinical professional
counselor in the State of Illinois, a national certified counselor,
a certified clinical mental health counselor, and a certified
