Dr. Bonnie Hinrichsen
teaches community-health nursing—theory and clinical, substance
abuse (online), alcohol use and abuse, and graduate Leadership (online).
Background
Dr. Hinrichsen has been a member of the Nursing Department faculty
since 1980. Prior to that time she worked two years as a staff
nurse in medical-surgical and psychiatric units. She worked
two years in public health nursing departments and taught nursing
at Methodist Medical Center School of Nursing for six years.
She worked as a staff nurse at both White Oaks and Proctor Chemical
Dependency Facilities.
Dr. Hinrichsen has conducted
research for both the University of Illinois College of Medicine
and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Center. Her current research
interest is in Aging/Gerontology.
She volunteers for the Center for Prevention of Abuse - Senior Strength,
for WCBU - Radio Information Service, and serves as a Vice President
of the Sam J. Stone B'nai B'rith Senior Housing Facility.
Degrees & Certification
Dr. Hinrichsen received her PhD in community health education from
Southern Illinois University (1993), her MSN in public health nursing
from the University of Illinois-Chicago (1978), and her BSN degree
from the University of South Carolina-Columbia (1966). She
held a certification in Addictions Nursing from 1995-2000 and is
currently certified in Gerontology. |
