Cynthia Steinwedel is
a Temporary Assistant Professor of Nursing. She teaches medical-surgical
nursing, fundamentals of nursing, and physical assessment in both
clinical and classroom settings. Her areas of expertise include
surgical, cardiac, and critical-care nursing. She is also a volunteer
with the American Red Cross with the Disaster Action Team.
Cynthia's background includes 18 years of critical-care experience,
including the CCRN certification. Most of her clinical practice
has been in surgical areas, and she also worked as a staff educator
in critical care prior to coming to Bradley University. She has
taught at the baccalaureate level for Bradley University and also
as a lecturer at the graduate level for the University of Illinois
at Chicago.
Cynthia's areas of research interest include family and patient
responses to nursing interventions, oral care in the acutely ill,
and surgical postoperative care.
Degrees & Certification
Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude (1974) from
Bradley University and her Master of Science degree (1986) from
the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she was awarded the
Peer Award for leadership, scholarship, and community service. She
is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in nursing at the University
of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.
