Among the nursing courses Professor Erickson teaches at the undergraduate
level, health assessment is one of her favorites; she enjoys witnessing
students using newly acquired skills to complete an integrated health
assessment on a patient. She also enjoys interacting with
students from different majors across campus in the "Men's
Health Issues" course she teaches each fall. Her area
of clinical expertise is medical-surgical nursing, specifically
caring for patients after surgery and those with diabetes mellitus
and cardiovascular disorders. Her current research focuses
on use of the transtheoretical model of change in assisting patients
with self-management of diabetes mellitus.
In addition to her teaching
responsibilities, she is one of the advisors for the Bradley Nursing
Student Association and has judged several Greek contests on campus.
