Dr. Kelly Schwend teaches community health nursing theory and practicum at the senior level and Health of the School Age Child.
Background
Dr. Schwend has held a variety of positions in the fields of nursing and nursing education. She began her career as a staff nurse in OB and Pediatrics . She has been a hospital based nurse educator for OB, Pediatrics and Women’s Health. She also worked in the areas of risk/outcomes management with a focus on the education of nursing staff as it relates to the promotion of a culture of safety within the hospital setting. She taught a variety of nursing theory and practicum courses at Bradley as a part time faculty member prior to joining the department as an Assistant Professor of Nursing in 2009.
Degrees
Dr. Schwend received her BSN from Bradley University and MS in Public Health Nursing from University of Illinois. She received her PhD in Higher Education Administration and Foundations from Illinois State University.
