Dr. Flannigan is coordinator
for the graduate nursing program, teaches Legal Issues in Nursing
to graduate students, and guides graduate student research.
At the undergraduate level, she teaches medical-surgical and leadership
practicum courses for students in their senior year and Nursing
Research theory to juniors and seniors.
Her research interests
include NCLEX-RN success, decision-making capacity and surrogate
decision-making in the older population, as well as other geriatric
issues.
She is a member of Sigma
Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Walk for the Mind
Committee, Tazewell County Breast and Cervical Cancer Coalition,
Tazewell County Free Mammogram Day Planning Committee, and Tremont
United Methodist Church Child Care Center Board.
Background
Dr. Flannigan joined the Bradley faculty in 1996. Prior to
that time she was employed in a variety of settings, including acute
care, rehabilitation, and physicians’ offices, and she served as
a nursing education administrator. She has recently been involved
in planning courses for online education and enjoys using a variety
of methods in the classroom ranging from the traditional lecture
to interactive learning via seminar/discussion and group activities.
Degrees & Certification
Dr. Flannigan received her BSN (1989) from Saint Francis Medical
Center College of Nursing in Peoria, her MS (1990) at the University
of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing at Peoria, and her PhD
(2003) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. |
