An associate professor in the Department of Nursing, Dr. Flannigan teaches Legal Issues in Nursing
to graduate students, and guides graduate student research.
She teaches medical-surgical and leadership
practicum courses for seniors, and Nursing
Research theory to juniors and seniors in the undergraduate program.
Her personal research interests
include NCLEX-RN success, ethical decision-making, geriatric
issues, and mild traumatic brain injury in athletes.
Dr. Flannigan is a member of Sigma
Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and is chair of the Mark Linder Walk for the Mind
Committee. She is a member of the Tazewell County Board of Health and is on the Tazewell County Breast and Cervical Cancer Coalition,
Tazewell County Free Mammogram Day Planning Committee, and Tremont
United Methodist Church Staff-Parish Council.
Background
Dr. Flannigan joined the Bradley faculty in 1996. Prior to
that time she was employed in a variety of settings, including acute
care, rehabilitation, and physicians’ offices, and in nursing education administration. She has recently been involved
in online course development and delivery, and employs a variety
of methods in the classroom ranging from the traditional lecture
to interactive learning via seminar/discussion and group activities. During 2006-2007 she participated in the Ethics Scholars Program at the Donnelley Family Center for Disability Ethics at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Degrees & Certification
Dr. Flannigan received her BSN (1989) from Saint Francis Medical
Center College of Nursing in Peoria, her MSN (1990) at the University
of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing at Peoria, and her PhD
(2003) from the University of Illinois at Chicago. |
