Dr. Lee teaches Early Childhood Profession, Early
Intervention, Language Development, Exploring
Diversity, Assistive Technology, and American
Sign Language, among other courses. Her current research focuses
on the perspectives of early-intervention professionals on providing
effective services, personnel preparation in early childhood education
and early childhood special education, and family support in early
intervention programs.
Background
Dr. Lees research experience includes conducting both qualitative
and quantitative research projects. She conducted a number of interview/observation
studies involving parents of children with special needs and professionals
in early childhood special education. She has also designed and
conducted a number of surveys involving early-intervention professionals.
Dr. Lee has been an active member of local, state, and national
professional organizations including the Division of Early Childhood
of the Council for Exceptional Children and the National Association
of Educating Young Children. She has presented research papers at
national and regional conferences.
She has worked as a bilingual assistant at a primary school, served
as director of a language school, taught high school students with
learning disabilities, taught undergraduate/graduate courses, and
supervised pre-service teachers in several universities for more
than 10 years.
Degrees & Certification
Hwa Lee received her PhD in early childhood special education from
the University of Illinois in 1999. She received her BA (1981) from
Keimyung University in Korea and MEd (1984) from Whitworth College
in Spokane, Wash. |
