Master
of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction
Bradley's graduate program in Curriculum and Instruction is designed
to prepare you to accept greater responsibility in your role as
an educational leader and an informed decision maker. This
is accomplished by providing you the opportunity to add to your
knowledge bases, increase your research skills, and inform your
attitudes.
While
making allowances for the diverse needs of early childhood through
high school teachers, the program includes a common core of courses
intended to enable you to construct enhanced knowledge and skill
in the areas of technology applications, educational research, legal
and social issues, interpersonal and organizational behavior, curriculum
theory, instructional theory, instructional design, and assessment
strategies. The program also offers practica, original research,
and creative contributions options.
The program's
flexibility makes it possible for you to focus your studies on assessment,
early childhood education, educational technology, gifted education,
literacy and reading, science education, or multidisciplinary education.
In addition, the program includes elective options so you can obtain
certification from initial to standard teacher certification, and
endorsements in middle level education, reading, and special education.
The possibility for additional study in a particular discipline
is also a part of this personalized program. For PROGRAM

Certificate
in Curriculum and Instruction
The program is designed
to provide students graduate level course work that extends their
learning experiences with respect to teacher education beyond what
they have received in either their bachelor's or Master's degree
programs. The design is one in which the student will be
taking courses that may later be included with additional course
work leading to a full master's degree. The content of the
program is to give students a core base of knowledge along with
pedagogical content knowledge in a specified area of concentration.
The program is not designed to replace or substitute for courses
necessary for teacher certification or endorsements, but will allow
teachers to pursue course work in content areas of interest to them
without requiring them to commit to a full master's degree.
The areas of concentration are:
Assessment
Early Childhood
Education
Educational Technology
Gifted Education |
Science
Education
Literacy and Reading
Multidisciplinary
Special Education |
The objectives of the
program are to provide the student with:
- opportunity to expand his/her learning beyond that in his/her
bachelor's or master's degree;
- a basic core of learning focusing on cultural diversity and
instructional strategies and designs; and
- an area of concentration of coursework that will strengthen
his/her pedagogical and/or pedagogical content knowledge.
