Mechanical Engineering PC Lab

The PC lab is a desktop publishing and numerical analysis lab intended for undergraduate and graduate students’ use. The lab contains 24 computers requiring a login and password for use. Each computer is equipped with a 250MB ZIP drive for storage of student data (disks are not provided). It is used as an instructional lab for several courses such as ME101, 103, 344, 540, ME410/411 and many others. The lab includes printing facilities, and is networked to other computing facilities in the department and faculty offices.

In addition to standard applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, FTP, Telnet, and a file compression program, the following engineering software packages are available for registered ME students:

  • AutoCAD - 2D and 3D design and drafting platform
  • EES (Engineering Equation Solver) - general equation solver with built-in functions for thermodynamic and transport properties
  • Matlab – Flexible environment for technical computing integrating mathematical computing, visualization, and a powerful language
  • Simulink - Interactive tool for modeling, simulating, and analyzing dynamic, multidomain systems

Questions related to this lab should be directed to the PC lab coordinator:
